There are 2 different types of student loans. One is federal student loans and the other is private student loans.
Private student loans are negotiable and settle-able, and we've had success negotiating private student loans and still with a negotiated amount, paying back in monthly payments.
Federal loans are not settle-able and negotiable, and is very difficult to discharge them in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. However, you can force them into a reorganization to accept payments that are less than the amount that you would pay normally through a student loan company.
